Women in Black International Online Conference 2026
Marking the 30th anniversary of Ruta Pacífica de las Mujeres (Colombia)
10, 11, 17 and 18 September, 2026
The Ruta Pacífica de las Mujeres warmly invites Women in Black, activists, and allied organizations from around the world to take part in the International Conference of Women in Black, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Ruta Pacífica de las Mujeres in Colombia. The Conference will be held online on September 10, 11, 17, and 18 of this year, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m., Colombian time (GMT-6).
It will be a space to share our experiences, visions and alternative ways to work for peace, life and coexistence from a feminist, pacifist and antimilitarist perspective.
What are Women in Black?
The International Network of Women in Black was born in 1988, when Israeli women began to publicly demonstrate, dressed in black and in silence, in protest against war and the occupation of Palestinian territories. Since then, women from different countries affected by armed conflicts or in solidarity with those who suffer them have joined this initiative, consolidating a global network committed to feminism, pacifism, antimilitarism, and the defense of human rights. Today, Women in Black is present in countries such as Israel, Palestine, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, India, South Africa, the Philippines, Uruguay, Colombia, Argentina, the United States, among others.
In Colombia, Ruta Pacífica de las Mujeres joined this initiative in 2001, strengthening an alliance based on shared principles of peacebuilding, non-violence, and feminist resistance. Since then, it has promoted Women in Black vigils in different regions of the country and has supported mass mobilizations against war and the forms of violence that affect women. The Network holds international gatherings to reflect on the impacts of wars, militarism, and the arms race, as well as to strengthen strategies of resistance and solidarity among women. To date, 16 international meetings have been held in different countries, and this year’s event corresponds to the XVII International Meeting of Women in Black Against War.
We invite you to participate as an attendee in this international meeting of women from around the world, a space to listen, reflect, and engage in dialogue about wars, militarism, and their impacts on women’s lives.
During four virtual sessions, women from different countries will share experiences, analysis, and feminist resistance for peace.
The meetings will take place in webinar format and will be streamed live via the Facebook fan page and YouTube channel of the Ruta Pacífica de las Mujeres, so you can connect from anywhere and join this global conversation for peace and justice for women.
