National Mobilization November 25, 2021
«A Journey of Joy and Celebration for Life»
Bogotá, November 17, 2021
This November 25, 3,000 women from the subregions of the North and Bajo Cauca de Antioquia, Medellín and its metropolitan area, and from the departments of Bolívar, Cauca, Chocó, Risaralda, Putumayo, Santander, Valle del Cauca, and Bogotá, we will mobilize to Caucasia for «A Journey of Joy and Celebration for Life».
If we are together, we are safe! That is why we will mobilize with the voice of women’s resistance to Caucasia with the objective of legitimizing the work of women leaders and human rights defenders, to strengthen the processes of protection and self-protection of women and to mitigate the continuum of violence that is frequently experienced due to the presence of illegal armed groups, such as: the Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces of Colombia, the Caparrapos and the National Liberation Army – ELN.
In our efforts for the construction of peace and in this «Journey of Joy and Celebration for Life”, we also commemorate 25 years of the Ruta Pacifica in which we have advocated for women’s rights, a life without violence and a country in peace.
This mobilization that will take place in the framework of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women will be part of a high-impact strategy for the protection of the lives of women and their territories, and particularly in Antioquia, we will seek to reverse the intention to destroy the territory, to confine and to cause fear.
We women do not give birth to daughters and sons for war!
